“Oh!?” Alex smiled.
This could make the entire difference between victory and failure!
Alera stood close, ready to defend her village.
The magical barrier held firm, but with the overwhelming numbers hammering against it, it wouldn’t last forever.
“Defend the village at all costs!” Alera’s voice rang out.
Though her expression was set with determination, Alex could see the flicker of worry in her eyes.
The countdown ended.
BOOM!
The first wave crashed into the barrier, the demon soldiers’ combined impact rippling across its surface.
Alex felt a surge of mana as he prepared for the onslaught.
“Go… Undead…” he whispered.
With the [Demon Hater] emblem glowing on their bodies, each of his summoned allies took position along the barrier’s edge, attacking with their weapons.
The aura surrounding them intensified their strength, giving them a menacing edge against the demon army.
Without warning, Alex raised his staff, activating [Fire Meteor].
WHOOOSH!
A blazing meteor descended from above, slamming into the mass of demons outside the barrier with a deafening roar.
It exploded on impact, dealing 435,158 damage to the target area and scattering nearby demons like leaves in the wind.
“ARGH-”
“What the hell is this power?!”
10,000 demons, but with his current skills, his endless mana pool and reduced cooldown/costs, he was a spell machine.
But for every demon that fell back, more emerged from the portals, filling the void just as quickly.
The effect of [Demon Hater] bolstered Alex’s strikes, each hit landing with twice the power against the demons.
FURY OF THUNDER!
ZAP! ZAP! ZAP!
He lifted his staff again, three thunder strikes hitting the area before Alex and dealing 335,158 three times to each demon caught in the area.
And best of all, even those that survived were [Stunned]!
This allowed Alex’s undead to attack without risking immediate death.
Yet the overwhelming numbers made it clear: brute force alone wouldn’t win this fight.
“Fire Vortex!” he shouted, summoning a swirling inferno that tore through the demons nearby.
The flames spiraled out, each one dealing 170% of his spirit to the enemies caught in its path.
Dozens fell, their bodies collapsing under the fiery assault, but even more surged forward, showing no signs of retreat.

“Give up, human and fox beasts!” Grayar shouted, commanding his army forward.
After a few more minutes passed, all demons had now entered the [Mystical Forest], the crimson rifts closing behind.
Alera charged forward, wielding a gleaming spear made of ice.
She swung it with precision, her strikes landing true.
Ice Slash!
BAM!
Instantly, dozens upon dozens of demons were evaporated as ice took over the terrain Alera swung at.

She dealt incredible damage, even more so thanks to Alex’s [Demon Hater] effect.
“Stay strong, everyone!” Alera shouted, her voice steady despite the chaos.
She was the only one among the foxes fighting, but she kept shouting to give confidence to her people, and also to announce that she was still alive.
On the other side of the battlefield, Alice drew her bow, her arrows piercing through demons’ defenses.
However, her damage wasn’t nearly enough to make a dent in the horde, and she quickly realized it.
Her face twisted with frustration, and she retreated back to a safe distance, panting as she tried to reload.
“They just keep coming,” Alex muttered, eyes narrowing.
Thanks to his infinite mana pool and cooldown reduction, Alex could throw [Fire Meteor] and [Fury of Thunder] every 5 seconds.
Of course, he used other skills in between, and also revived the undead that had been slain.
“Damn it,” Alex gritted his teeth. Even with [Demon Hater] doubling his damage and defense, the sheer numbers made it a grueling challenge.
But this wasn’t working.
He needed something more.
“I need to… attack in close combat,” he tightened the grip around his dagger, knowing he would need to put himself at risk.
But it would be worth it.
“Oblivion Strike!” he shouted, lunging forward with his dagger.
He plunged it into a demon soldier’s chest.

While staying behind the barrier, he could take advantage of it to quickly strike the demons repeatedly.

And of course, his other hand would keep his staff raised to cast spells.
The battlefield was pure chaos at this point.
On one hand, thousands of demons were trying to pierce the defenses to reach Alex.
On the other, Alera was dominating the other demons, easily dispatching of hundreds of them in a few strikes.
And finally, the undead would do the rest, especially his [Leader Undeads] (AKA Grand Skeletons, Bony Knights and Spectral Wraiths) as their numbers when joined could easily kill dozens of demons.
20 minutes passed like this.

And they were doing decent!
A loud roar echoed over the battlefield.
Alex’s eyes locked onto the [Low-Level Demon Clan Commander] standing among the demon ranks, a towering figure with horns protruding from his helmet.
“Destroy this village! No mercy!” the commander bellowed, his voice a low growl filled with menace.
The demon soldiers surged forward, their renewed vigor crashing against the barrier again and again.
It shimmered, holding for now, but Alex could see the cracks beginning to form.
“Time to take down some more of these pests,” he muttered.
He extended his staff and unleashed [Spirit Chains].
Transparent chains shot out, snaring a dozen demons.
The damage wasn’t significant, but stopping them was the true objective as he finished the job with a [Fire Meteor].
Alex took a quick glance beside him.
His undead were holding their ground, but the toll was beginning to show.
Even with the [Aura of Death] buff boosting their attack and defense, they were struggling against the endless horde.
“You dare approach my village, you assholes!” Alera shouted as she cast [Iceberg Surge], an attack that made a massive iceberg emerge from the ground, killing hundreds of demons instantly because of the power.
“W-Wow,” Alex was shocked, and he didn’t even know if he could win against her, in battle that is, since he clearly won in bed.
“Alera, fall back if you need to!” he called out.
“I’ll be fine!” she replied, though her voice was strained.
The barrier flickered, its once-bright glow dimming under the relentless assault.
A warning flashed across Alex’s vision:

Alex clenched his fist.
He knew it wouldn’t last if the demons kept this up.
“Alright, let’s try this again,” he said, summoning another [Fire Meteor].
The blazing projectile tore through the sky, landing in the thick of the demon ranks with an explosion that sent shockwaves across the battlefield.
A massive dent appeared in their numbers, but as quickly as they fell, more took their positions.
These demons were willing to sacrifice thousands to be able to enter this village, and once they did, it would be chaos.
“COME ON!” Alex shouted.
Fire Meteor! Shadow Strike! Spirit Chains! Fury of Thunder!
BOOM! SLASH! FWISH! ZAP!
“Rise again!” he shouted, calling forth more undead soldiers.
His mana surged, and more skeletal warriors rose to his aid, their [Demon Hater] emblems glowing bright as they charged forward instantly.
As Alex regrouped with his allies, Alera and Alice covered his sides.
Alice fired arrows into the ranks of demons, providing a bit of breathing room, though her attacks barely dented their defenses.
“Alright,” Suddenly, Grayar, demon commander lifted his weapon, a twisted black mace, and slammed it into the ground, releasing a powerful shockwave, “I have to do everything, don’t I?”
BOOM!
Alex felt the impact even through the barrier. It rippled, flashing red.
[Barrier Durability: 1,000,000/50,000,000 HP]
“Alex! They’re going to break through!” Alera warned, fear flickering in her eyes.
Alex scowled, sweat dripping down his face.
They were running out of time.
[Demons left: 5,747]
“We’re not done yet!” Alex shouted, rallying his undead and bracing for the impending breach.
But suddenly…
“Finally need my help, heh?” he heard a voice, and once he looked up, he saw Alphox, the primordial shadow dragon, “I guess I’ll show those demons who’s king here.”
“Finally!” Alex sighed, feeling relieved to see the dragon spread his wings and begin flying in the air.
“These fools won’t even know what hit them,” Alphox smiled as he cast [Shadow Flames] on the entire battlefield.
