Cheng Jia’s face changed slightly, she bit her lip, quietly answered ‘okay’ , before lowering her head to concentrate on the menu.
When MO Xiuchen and Wen Ran were approaching, Cheng Jia had just finished ordering. Seeing him return, a radiant smile immediately burst onto her face, deliberately ignoring Wen Ran next to him, cheerfully asking, “Young Master MO, what do you like to eat, let me help you order.”
Upon hearing this, MO Xiuchen didn’t immediately answer, but gentlemanly pulled out a chair for Wen Ran, letting her sit down, before finally taking a seat himself.
“Young Master MO, who is this lady?”
Cheng Jia was ignored by MO Xiuchen, but she wasn’t discouraged and was still curiously studying Wen Ran.
After Wen Ran sat down, she stared back at Cheng Jia who was looking at her with open interest. Her face was smiling but Wen Ran keenly felt her feigned curiosity and insincere smile.
“She is my wife, Wen Ran!”
MO Xiuchen looked up at the attendant, asked for another menu which he passed to Wen Ran, then briefly introduced, “This is Cheng Jia, she works at the Nanqin Hotel under the MS Group.”
Surprise flickered in Wen Ran’s calm eyes. From what she could see of this woman across from her who was about her age and her clothing, either she came from a wealthy family or was the type who enjoyed the pursuit of brand names.
But to have dinner with the likes of MO Xiuchen and Gu Kai, she certainly could not be an ordinary employee in a hotel that was part of the MS Group. As MO Xiuchen spoke, Cheng Jia stood up from her chair, stretching out her hand across the table to Wen Ran, cordially saying, “Miss Wen, hello!”
Wen Ran’s eyes glinted, she didn’t stand, but while seated extended her hand to shake Cheng Jia’s, her face bore a faint smile as she said in a calm tone, “Hello, Miss Cheng!”
The reason she didn’t stand was because Cheng Jia referred to her by her name, not as ‘Mrs. MO,’ and she used ‘hello’ instead of the more formal ‘how do you do.’
Given that she worked in the hospitality industry, she should be more attentive to these details. Therefore, this way of addressing her was intentional, or perhaps in some way, suggestive.
“Order whatever you like.”
Next to her, MO Xiuchen said in a low voice. Wen Ran flashed him a smile, ordered four dishes, two she liked and two he liked.
Hearing the dishes that she liked spoken from her lips, MO Xiuchen’s gaze slightly faltered, but he displayed no emotions on his face.
“Wen Ran, you’ve only been married to Xiuchen for a few days, and you already know what he likes to eat, it seems you two are getting along really well?” Across from her, Gu Kai grinned meaningfully, his eyes flickering between MO
Xiuchen and Wen Ran.

The smile on Gu Kai’s face immediately vanished and he shook his head saying, “I prefer my scalpel and lab. Women are complicated creatures, I don’t have the patience to deal with it.”
“Young Master Gu, aren’t you afraid of offending the public by saying that?
After all, both Wen Ran and I are women.”
On the side, Cheng Jia interjected, after finishing, she looked at Wen Ran again and smilingly asked, “Miss Wen, do you want to go to the restroom together?”
Seeing her stand up, Wen Ran smiled and nodded, saying ‘okay’. She got up and left together with her.
It was only when their figures disappeared from the dining hall that Gu Kai asked MO Xiuchen, “Xiuchen, how’s the investigation going, is Cheng Jia that little girl from that year?”
MO Xiuchen retracted his gaze to meet his expectant eyes and counter asked, “Did the results come out? Is she your lost sister?”
