Xiao Haiqing was worried that Jing Yunzhao didn’t have enough cash and reminded her about the extra charges, torn between paying the bill and maintaining Jing Yunzhao’s pride.
Jing Yunzhao, however, didn’t seem to be bothered by the extra charges. She just nodded and sat down.
Xiao Haiqing had ordered the dishes when she made the reservation, which was good since Jing Yunzhao was quite hungry by now. Since it was just the two of them, Jing Yunzhao stopped being overly polite and instructed the waiter to serve their food.
Xiao Haiqing was from a rich family and named whatever that came to mind when she made the order. As the exquisite dishes were served one by one, Xiao Haiqing began to feel anxious.
The appetisers were not too bad, but as for the main courses…
“Clam with Pearls, Jade Golden Belt, Water Dragon, Flying Dragon and Phoenix…”
Those dishes were actually sautéed scallops, garlic lobsters, steamed grouper, and Buddha Jumps Over the Wall with sharks’ fin.
Those were only a few of the dishes Xiao Haiqing had ordered. When Xiao Haiqing ordered the dishes, competing with Ye Qing in mind, she ordered almost all the signature dishes of Xiang Hai Restaurant. Xiang Hai Restaurant had given their dishes such fancy names that not only were they not able to tell what dish it was from its name, they couldn’t even identify the dishes after tasting it. Jing Yunzhao hadn’t even heard of some of the dishes before.
“Erm… Yunzhao, I feel bad letting you pay for all of this. Why don’t we split the bill?” Xiao Haiqing suggested hesitantly.
“Don’t worry about it, I’ll pay as promised. Oh, and don’t worry about the leftovers – I have two housemates who would be happy to eat them, and I am sure we could eat it for a few days if we keep them in the fridge,” said Jing Yunzhao, happily eating her food.
“My bad – I only thought of trying everything without considering if we could finish it.” Xiao Haiqing felt even more guilty after Jing Yunzhao comforted her.
“I’m glad you realized it. Now that you know, do start eating. Let’s finish everything!” Jing Yunzhao said cheerfully without looking up from her food. Since there was no one else in the private room, she rolled up her sleeves and started eating enthusiastically.
“Here I was thinking that top students were mysterious, turns out you’re like this in private,” Xiao Haiqing snorted in amusement as she watched Jing Yunzhao eat. She shook her head at the way Jing Yunzhao managed to look elegant despite gobbling her food down. It would look totally different if someone else was doing it.
Looking at Jing Yunzhao enjoying her food, Xiao Haiqing gave in and reached out to take some dishes. “Slow down and leave me some food! Oh my god, this tastes amazing! I am going to have more, don’t you take my food!”
The private room’s door was opened as they were wolfing down the food.
“Sorry to interrupt, but there was a guest downstairs who told us to send you this ‘Wealth and Prosperity’. Please enjoy,” said the waitress politely as she put the dish on their table. Jing Yunzhao and Xiao Haiqing looked at the dish and realized that it was just some leftover tofu with shallots.
A guest downstairs? It could only be Ye Qing.
Before Xiao Haiqing could say anything, Jing Yunzhao passed one of the dishes beside her to the waitress and said sweetly, “please send them this, and tell the girl who sent us the dish that this dish is amazing and we would like her to try it.”
Jing Yunzhao was not being generous. While the dish that she told the waitress to send was indeed an expensive dish known as Coral Abalone, what she sent was merely the sauce and garnish that was left over. It was a dish worth over a thousand and Jing Yunzhao was certain that it would provoke Ye Qing.
Jing Yunzhao never thought of showing off. She would have let Ye Qing enjoy her food peacefully had Ye Qing left her alone, but since Ye Qing chose to keep messing with her, then all Jing Yunzhao could say was that Ye Qing asked for it.
