Energy Overload.
After hearing this term, which I could recall happening to me right after getting Fang, I hesitated to use the potion on Igni. However, if I didn’t give the potion to her, who knows what would happen when she ran out of energy?
“…”
Running out of time, I clicked my tongue and gently laid her back down to lean against the wall. The wooden boards used to make the floor and walls were resistant to burning, thankfully, but they still sizzled from the heat of her body.
I ignored the burned-off flesh of my hands and ran to my office table, opening a drawer and pulling a few potion bottles from it. It was the expensive 1 million Credit potion that I stashed inside my desk just in case.
I popped the cork and gulped down the contents. The burn in my hands quickly faded as the flesh and skin recovered. I didn’t wait for the entire process to finish before I grabbed the red potion and gulped it down too.
After that, I turned to Igni as I finally held the blue potion before touching her cheeks to test the effect of the red potion. It was still hot, but it was at the level of a hot spring now, unlike before. I gently slid my arm from her cheeks to the back of her head, supporting her body.
After biting off the cork of the blue potion and gently making her drink it, I could see some of the potion’s contents evaporate as they touched her lips, but most of it still managed to enter her system.
In my eyes, I could see the potion’s energy circulate in her stomach for a moment before suddenly rushing outward to her extremities.
“Urrr, Aaaagh!”
The energy from the potion, enough to recover a God-level monster, was ravaging her body from the inside. This reaction really matches how I was when I got the Energy Overload from Ember and Fang’s evolution. Blood started pouring from her pores, together with her seven orifices, but it completely evaporated due to her extremely high temperature as soon as it got out.
It was like she was covered in a bloody fog the moment her Energy Overload started.
As I watched her energy spin around violently, I found that the rate at which it was decreasing was slightly less than the rate at which it was replenished by the potion. If this continues, when the excess energy piles up, Igni will be in trouble!
I touched her face, tapping it a few times. As soon as I did, her eyes started to focus, and she turned slowly to face my direction.
“… My… Lord…”
Her voice was hoarse, as if she had just gone through a grueling march across a hot and dry desert. As I was staring at her eyes, I suddenly saw them change colors from red to a slightly higher hue. Pink, to be exact.
“Wait…”
Her gaze changed completely. For some reason, I felt a sudden threat to my life. By reflex, I tried to distance myself from her, but her hand quickly grabbed my wrist.
“…!”
Her strength was beyond what I imagined! I can’t simply break free of her grip!
As I was admiring her strength, the world started spinning before I felt my back slam hard against the floor. Igni moved directly above me and panted heavily. Her limbs skillfully pinned me down, limiting my movements.
Her eyes were definitely those of a predator staring down her prey. This scene felt strangely familiar. While my mind was wandering, looking for the memory that I got reminded of, I recalled a much more recent one.
It was when Julia sent a thumbs-up and grinned at me a minute ago.
“Don’t tell me!”
I focused on the link between me and Igni and realized that she really was, as I expected, extremely aroused! Is the Energy Overload affecting her adversely, activating her survival instincts? Either way, I need to get out of her grasp first.
“Ugh!”
At that moment, Igni flinched in pain. Using that instant when her grip loosened, I twisted my arms and grabbed her neck, pulling her sideways and reversing our position completely. Now, it was me who was pinning her down on the floor.
Now that I was on top of her, Igni’s expression calmed down a little, but her emotions stayed in their heightened state. Her pink eyes wavered as if begging me to let go of her, while the halo on top of her head was rotating gently.
“… Will…” .𝙘𝙤𝙢
Her sweet voice echoed in the quiet room.
Although I couldn’t see her exact expression from the bloody fog that was rising from her skin, I knew that she was currently in pain. Rather than the energy rampaging inside her, I was more worried about her blood loss.
As I was distracted for a moment, Igni suddenly forced her body to move and got her arms out of my hold. I lost balance as my hands lost their support.
Igni then used her tail and slammed it against my side, sending me flying toward the other wall of the room.
“Ugh!”
It wasn’t a deadly attack, but it was still painful. I could feel that my side, which got hit by her, was throbbing in pain along with my heartbeats.
“Igni… Stop!”
I shouted, seeing her pouncing towards me with the intention of attacking again.
I heard that dragonkins are a pretty prideful bunch; they would fight with their partner just to see who would be on top. I don’t mind being under her, really, but my pride as a man wouldn’t allow that.
As Igni didn’t show signs of stopping, she left me with no choice.
I waited patiently for her approach. At the last instant, when her arms touched my shoulder and she was about to slam me down to the floor, I activated the Flame of Evolution for the briefest of moments.
“…!”
As I did, Igni showed a shocked expression as her movements stopped for an instant. I didn’t miss the chance and quickly twisted her arms to her back before kicking the back of her knees, letting her drop to the ground face-down.
Her wings suddenly spread wide, as if about to try and swat me away. I forcefully twisted her two arms, locked them in place with my left hand, and used my right hand to press on the middle of her two wings, stopping them from moving at all.
Igni still tried to squirm out of my hold, but I didn’t let go.
“Stop resisting! It’s my win!”
A few seconds passed, and finally, she stopped moving. Her body went limp as she called my name once more.
“… My Lord… Will… Please, relieve me from this heat…”
