Villain Ch 18. All Hail To The Devil Emperor
Their eyes glinted with amusement as they looked down at Mac.
“We have to go now, Your Majesty,” said the witch. She wore a daring ensemble of black leather and lace, the curve-hugging fabric leaving little to the imagination. Her long black hair cascaded down her back in a cascade of waves, framing her heart-shaped face and accentuating her ruby-red eyes.
On top of her head sat a tall, pointed witch’s hat, its brim shadowing her delicate features. The hat was adorned with silver stars and a crescent moon and seemed to glow with a faint inner light.
Despite the chaos and destruction that raged around her, the witch remained poised and collected. She moved with a graceful fluidity.
The Devil Emperor stood frozen in place; his eyes locked onto Mac’s limp form.
“I know…” he replied coldly.
Mac thought the Devil Emperor would let him go and disappear, but he was wrong. Without a shred of mercy, the emperor plunged his claw into Mac’s chest, tearing through his flesh and turning his HP points to zero.
In shock and mouth wide open, Mac stared up at the Devil Emperor, his eyes filled with defiance, as the emperor whispered tauntingly in his ear. “You won’t be able to beat me…” the emperor sneered, a sly smile playing at the corners of his mouth.
And then, with a sudden and brutal twist of his claw, the emperor ripped it free from Mac’s chest, sending him crashing to the ground in a heap.
Mac watched in horror as the world around him devolved into chaos. Flames licked around him and scorched everything. He could feel his life slipping away, even as the Devil Emperor and his subordinates disappeared into the shadows, leaving the town of Ilude in chaos.
“All hail to The Devil Emperor…” the Devil Emperor sneered, his voice echoing through the flames. And then, with an evil smirk on his face, he and his subordinates vanished into the fiery inferno, leaving behind only destruction and despair in their wake.
Mac’s vision began to fade as he felt the embrace of death wrapping around his character. But just as he was about to slip away into the darkness, his screen suddenly lit up with a countdown timer.
With each passing second, the town of Ilude around him began to shift and change, returning to its former state. The once-decimated buildings rose up from the ashes, their walls mended and their roofs restored. The NPCs that had cowered in fear now went about their business as usual, their expressions returning to their default states. .
Mac watched as the world around him transformed, the dark skies giving way to a brilliant sun that bathed the town in a warm, golden light. It was as if the entire event had never happened as if the chaos and destruction that had consumed the town were nothing but a bad dream.
As the timer reached its final seconds, Mac’s body was suddenly enveloped in a bright light, and he felt as if he were being pulled in a thousand different directions.
And then, just as suddenly as it had begun, the light vanished, leaving Mac standing in front of a towering gate. A female NPC stood before him, dressed in a medieval maid outfit.
“Welcome back, adventurer!” she greeted him with a cheerful smile. The NPC’s name was Thera. She was in every city with a different appearance and she was usually used for saving points, vaults, and teleportation to other cities.
Mac looked around and saw that he was surrounded by a sea of players, all of them looking equally disoriented and bewildered. They were muttering amongst themselves, complaining about the difficulty of the battle and how frustrating it was to be killed by the Devil Emperor. Some were cursing loudly, while others were simply shaking their heads in disbelief.
Despite the crowded and chaotic scene, there was a palpable sense of unity among the players. They all shared a common goal: to defeat the Devil Emperor and claim victory for themselves.
Mac could see it in their eyes – the steely determination, the unyielding will to succeed. He knew that he was not alone in his desire to beat the emperor, and that gave him a small glimmer of hope.
Another announcement appeared.
[Congratulations! All participants will get 2X EXP for 24 hours!]
The other players around him rushed off to start grinding levels. But Mac was different. He knew that leveling up wasn’t everything, and he needed to be cautious if he wanted to survive in this game. His eyes flickered over to his HP bar, which was still dangerously low. His recent encounter with the Devil Emperor had left him severely injured, and he needed to rest before he could even think about leveling up.
Slowly, he made his way to the nearest bench and sat down heavily. He took a deep breath and tried to calm his racing heart. It was a chaotic battle, and he was lucky to have survived the monster attack. But the victory was short-lived as the Devil Emperor had appeared out of nowhere and dealt him a fatal blow.
Mac sat on the bench in the game world, feeling the cool breeze that swept across his face. In his mind, he began to calculate the best way to maximize his hunting time while waiting.
As he thought, his hand moved to the back of his head, where his VR game device was attached. He took a deep breath before pulling it off, revealing his sweat-drenched hair underneath. He rubbed his forehead, feeling the pressure release as he disconnected from the game world.
The transition was jarring. One moment he was sitting in a virtual world, and the next, he was sitting on his gaming chair in his room.
Once his VR device was off from his head, Mac’s player revealed his face, A 24-year-old man with his blonde hair falling in disarray across his forehead and his eyes were green. His name was Elio.
Previously, he decided to take a short break to drink some water before he continued his hunt. But instead of standing up, he stared at the VR device in front of him.
“That Devil Emperor’s movement is too fluid… He does not look like an AI for me…” he muttered.
