Leaving the dining hall behind Lucian randomly chose a path to the left. The corridor stretched ahead of him, filled with identical doors and portraits of various historical figures that Lucian didn’t recognize.
There were even some mysterious statues and ornate busts arranged strategically within the hallways, as if there was some grand design behind the decoration.
While he had his share of adventure, Lucian had never actually been to the Imperial Library before.
After all why would he visit a boring place like Imperial Library when he could go and have ‘fun’ instead!

The maid hesitated. “I don’t think I should accept help from someone as important as you, Your Highness,” she stammered.
“Please?” Lucian asked. “You look like you’ve got a lot to do, and I’m pretty strong. Besides, what’s a Prince doing hiding out in a library anyways?” he joked.
Reluctantly, the maid smiled, and the pair got to work. Lucian was shocked at how filthy the chamber was, with dirty sheets, crumpled papers scattered around, and even a pile of filth in the corner that he could only identify as food remains.
‘Whose nightmare of a room is this?’ Lucian wondered inwardly, appalled by the chaos and filth surrounding him.
“Let’s finish this up quickly,” the maid mumbled. “I really need to get my day started. And that’s not easy in my old age. Thank you for offering to help, Your Highness.”
‘If I want to pin her down, I’ll need to make it worth my while,’ Lucian thought, a hint of a wicked smile playing on his lips.
With Lucian’s assistance, the pair cleaned the room with amazing speed. They carefully folded the linens, sorted the documents, and tidied up the floor, ensuring that everything was immaculately prepared for its occupant’s return.
“Now only the ceiling needs to be swept,” Lucian said, looking upward.
“My hands can’t reach up there, Your Highness,” the maid admitted.
“Why don’t we get a ladder instead?” the maid suggested, quickly moving toward an alcove tucked away behind the bed.
“Actually there’s no ladder or a stool.” The maid apologized, “I will be right back, Prince Lucian,” and hurried out of the room to grab a stool or a ladder.
But Lucian couldn’t let her find a ladder if he wanted to succeed in his plan, so he went after her, and before she stepped out of the room, he slammed the door shut, trapping her inside.
“Your Highness, what is the matter?” She stumbled to say. She stumbled backwards, knocking a crystal bowl off a table and onto the ground with a clatter.
“I’ll hold you up while you clean the ceiling,” Lucian replied, placing a finger on his lips and grinning mischievously.
He approached the maid, grabbing her by her waist. She gasped in surprise, her face turning a rosy red. “Your Highness, I don’t think we can-“
Lucian lifted her up easily.
